Main Characters Insights

Elizabeth Bennet- Is a stubborn character who seeks true love and not arranged marriages.

Jane Bennet- Is a romantic soul who seeks the best in everyone, but is highly shy.

Mrs. Bennet- is highly intrusive of personal space and feelings.

Mr. Bingley- I much like Jane in being a young lover who seeks love that is told in the fairy tales.

Mr. Darcy- He is perceived as a harsh dark personality, but he is really a very kind compassionate gentlemen.

The background on Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice is 19th century England. This is key to know, because women, were only house wives and marriage was a key factor is deeming a women's life as successful or not, including that she provides a continuation of a family heir. Also, women had little education and most middle class and high class families had servants that cleaned and cooked for them on a daily bases. The woman's only key role was planning social events to host or attend and childbearing and caring.
The main theme has to do with marriage; marriage is the center point for this book. Marriage was important to uphold family reputations, when women left home, and men were able to gain their inheritances. It was essential for girls to be married off as young as possible and get them out of the house. Once they were over a certain age they were not wanted for marriage unless already married. Marriage was significant for men because they had to have a wife before they could receive any part of their inheritance from their family.

My personal preview opinion on Pride and Prejudice

In my personal outlook on Pride and Prejudice, I found that although the wording is archaic the plot is young. It is full of: typical family drama, sibling jealousy, young love, stubbornness, and a sharp division in social classes. While reading this book you find yourself in the rural Longbourn, England sipping on English tea watching the love story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy unfold from hatred to true love.
On these cold winter days you cannot help but to make a cup of coco and grab a copy of Pride and Prejudice and read all day because the story line just warms your spirit. Just like the book’s movie it is the typical “chick flick” because of the romance and happily ever after ending. It includes the typical family conflicts, men drama, young love, and the gaps between social classes. The arrogant guy turns into the kind-hearted compassionate gentleman, the young girl falls in love to easy, and the obsessive mother worries more of her family’s image then her girls’ happiness.
